returning used vehicle recently bought from a dealer? i just bought a used 2009 mitsubishi outlander last friday and found out it was a rental car. i checked the car (i could have checked it before the purchase! i was so dumb i trusted them too much considering their BIG name) and i found dusts (as thick as you can imagine) everywhere even underneath the seats and inside compartments and hidden areas. looks like the car has been to the outback for months and not well taken care of. the previous owner (car rental) has its own service centre and the maintenance of the vehicle is not clearly stated. can i return the vehicle to the dealer? or demand an exchange at least? i forgot to mention the odometer reads almost 70K for two years of use from the previous owner.

I will go with roger here no one here can answer what your dealer will offer you. So its best that you ask your dealer try to explain him the situation hope he understands what you are saying. But i would say chances are slim that he will accept back the car but still it worth a try. Is there an echo in here ? you need to talk to the dealer, no one here can speak for the dealership. if the words as is are on any paperwork you own the car. but finding heavy accumulations of dust mean nothing, other than the vehicle spent a lot of time on dusty roads somewhere. or parked near or on a construction site which can be a great way to get layers of dust. How does the vehicle run? is it running good? is the front end nice and tight? or does the steering wheel feel loose and the car wobbles all over the road? are there any loud or annoying rattles as the car goes down the highway? and does everything in the car work? including lights, radio heater? If the car feels nice and tight and rides good, has good power goes up hill well and is good on gas, and looks good for a 2009 then enjoy it for what it is, a used almost new car. good luck hope it works out. You have no right to return a vehicle, regardless of the reason why. You could have easily checked this information out before buying it. Squealing noise on 1999 Mitsubishi Galant VR4? Hey my Galant has an annoying squeal it makes when i do a full lock, I'm guessing my power steering belt is loose, but i'm not sure which belt operates the power steering as there are 2 belts next to each other. Volkswagen Beetles, commonly known as "Bugs", were designed with four-wheel drum brakes that can be easily changed when they wear out. It should take about two hours to repair the worn brake shoes and cylinders.

Step by Step :

Jack up the vehicle and remove one wheel. Once the wheel is off, there will be a round drum brake cylinder visible. It should pull off easily, unless it is overly rusted.

Remove the tension springs holding the brake shoes in place. The specialized tool can be inserted at the end of the spring, sliding it down and away from the clip. Some packages of brake shoes and parts come with replacement springs, but the old ones can be reused if they still hold tension.

Remove the brake shoes from both sides of the brake assembly. Without the springs, they should slide away from the assembly, horizontally. Check for excessive wear, or glazing, and then replace with new shoes.

Reinstall the tension springs. Place the lower end of the spring into the assembly's clip, then slide the top spring hook onto the upper clip using the tool. The shoes should be pulled in towards the center.

Check the wheel cylinders for leakage. These are small cylinders located on top of the brake assembly between the shoes. The rubber seal around the edge of each cylinder will degrade and leak after several years, especially if the Bug has not been driven. Replacing these cylinders is not difficult, but time consuming and messy.

Check the condition of the drum cylinders, and "turn" them, if necessary. "Turning" a drum cylinder is placing it onto a lathe and scraping off the wear and corrosion. Most auto parts stores and brake shops provide this service for a small fee, but none will turn them if they are too badly worn. There is a standard thickness that must remain on the cylinder's inner wall to safely reuse them. If they cannot be reused, then they must be replaced. Repeat steps 1-6 for the brakes on the remaining wheels.

Bleed the braking system at the master cylinder, once all shoes have been replaced. In some Volkswagen vehicles, the type of master cylinder may vary, but for most Beetles (pre-1975) it is directly attached to the brake pedal, in front of the floor pan. Using the universal bleeding kit, pressure bleed the system according to the instructions provided. Loosen the "bleeding nipple" on the top back side of the brake, behind the wheel cylinder, before pressurizing the master cylinder. Each brake line must be bled individually. Once all of the air has been purged from the system, the brake pedal should have a good amount of resistance and stop the vehicle smoothly.
Tips & Warnings
When the system is pressurized with the universal kit, the weakest points on the system are the wheel cylinders. If there is a lack of pedal resistance, check all four wheel cylinders.

Wear safety protection when working on brakes, as they contain asbestos fibers.

Step by Step :

Raise and support one full end of the Ram truck on jack stands - either the front or rear end. Make sure the parking brake is applied and remove the wheels. Loosening the lug nuts before raising the truck will make wheel removal easier.

Install a brake disc on the rotor that has been smoothly finished, making sure it is at least as thick as the minimum thickness that is cast along the edge of the disc. Measure this thickness with a micrometer, wipe any glaze off the disc with sandpaper or an emory cloth and then bolt the disc to the hub.

Connect the hub and bearing assembly to the disc. Insert the axle shaft into the axle housing and attach the brake dust shield to the steering knuckle. Place the hub bearing on the steering knuckle and axle shaft and tighten the bearing-to-knuckle bolts to 125 foot-pounds. Install the axleshaft washer and nut to 263 foot-pounds, line the nut up with the next cotter pin hole and install a cotter pin in that hole

Attach the caliper mounting bracket to the disc, tightening its retaining bolts to 250 foot-pounds for front brakes and 145 for rear brakes. If the Ram is older than a 2005 model, tighten the front bracket bolts to 210 foot pounds.

Insert fresh brake pads into the brake caliper, starting with the inner pads and then the outer ones, making sure the pads are seated in their grooves and retaining clips. If the caliper piston isn't completely within its bore, compress it with a C-clamp before installing the pads.

Place the caliper on its mounting bracket and tighten its bolts to 24 foot-pounds for front brakes and 22 for rear brakes (on a Ram 2500 older than 2005, tighten the rear caliper bolts to 24 foot-pounds). Connect the brake hose to the caliper and tighten the banjo bolt to 30 foot pounds.

Fill the brake master cylinder with brake fluid after all new brakes are installed and bleed the system. Loosen the caliper's bleeder screw, place a length of clear tubing on the screw fitting, and place the tube's other end in a container of fluid. Open the bleeder screw while another person presses the brake pedal until no more air bubbles leave the system.

Removal of all brake components is the reversal of installing.
